On the second day of the Centennial celebration on 20 November 2002, started at 7.30 am with yoga shivir organized at Shiva Ji Stadium of the University of Lucknow campus. This yoga shivir was organized by Dr. Amarjeet Yadav, Department of Yoga. Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, Honorable Vice Chancellor, University of Lucknow arrived in yoga camp gave some instructions related to Yoga.
During the yoga camp, participants were trained to perform Tadasana, Dhanurasana, Bhujangasana, Pawanmuktasana, Ardhamatsyandrasana for physical health. For the development of mental health, practice of Padmasana, nadi shodhan, Bhastrika, and Ujjai etc. were practiced by yoga instructors. Maintaining spiritual health is essential for a balanced life, so yoga nidra and other meditative asanas were practiced along with meditation sessions. Dr. Amarjit Yadav said that Yoga is useful for life and beneficial for holistic way of life, in the current corona epidemic, Yogasan, Pranayam, Shatkarma, and Yogic diet are important means to develop immunity of man. Students of Janmanya Yoga and university teachers and staff participated in the yoga camp.
At 11.30 am Science festival was organised in parking area in front of Department of Hindi. The Science festival was organized by Prof. Vibuti Rai, Department of Geology. In this festival Dr. Ravi Bhatt, the noted historian was the Chief Guest and the program was started in the able guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Rai. Prof. Rai alongwith the Dean, Faculty of Science Prof. Tripta Trivedi, Ex. Vice Chancellor, M.J.P. Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, Prof. Anil Shukla and Heads of Departments of Science Faculty lighten the lamp during which students chanted the vandana of Maa Saraswati. Prof. Vibhuti Rai, presented bouquet to all the guests present on the dias and welcomed everyone in the science fest. He thanked Honourable Vice Chancellor to promote the idea of science festival which is being organised for the first time in history of University of Lucknow. Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Alok Kumar Rai in his speech praised the efforts of all the department of faculty of science for the participation in the science festival and remembered many well known names of past faculty members of science who contributed a lot in the field of science. He conveyed that the h-index of faculty of science is very encouraging and said that h-index and performance can further be improved by improving infrastructural and equipment facilities. He also praised the initiative of the Department of Chemistry for the development and technology transfer of sanitizer. At the end Vice Chancellor wished good luck for the fest. Dr. Ravi Bhatt an eminent writer and columnist thereafter talked about the historical development of the University of Lucknow and informed how the name of Badshah Bagh, the place where University of Lucknow is situated was coined. He also provided historical structural details of the University. After Dr. Bhatt’s speech Souvenir of the science fest was inaugurated. Then all the guest were honoured with shawl and momento.
In the Science fest total 9 departments of Faculty of Science and 3 institutes participated from the University. Apart from that Lucknow Public College, Amity University, Lucknow, Chandrabhanu Gupt Agricultural College, Integral University also participated. In the fest, Department of Chemistry had displayed some chemistry models, nanoparticles and displayed extract of curcumins and some special glassware sets. Food and Science Technology department had displayed quick adulteration tests for food items such as honey and milk products. Engineering Faculty had made sanitization tunnel and Lucknow Public College demonstrated the use of Drone. Regional Science Center, Lucknow had shown models of some interesting equipments like hand palm potential equipment and some tricky games. Chandrabhanu Gupt Agricultural College displayed variety of agricultural products like 4 feet long bottle guard, herbal sanitizers etc.
At 1.30 pm rehearsal for convocation which is scheduled on 21 November, 2020 was performed at Malviya Hall. In this rehearsal the Registrar, University of Lucknow, led the academic procession. During the entire rehearsal Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, Vice Chancellor was present and was having a keen look over all the proceedings. Prof. Poonam Tandon performed the role of Honourable Chancellor and Governor of Uttar Pradesh while Prof. Naven K. Khare played the role of Deputy Chief Minister, Prof. Dinesh Sharma. During rehearsal many senior Professors of the University were present.
