President Ram Nath Kovind had reached Charbagh station in Lucknow by presidential train. The Ministry of Railways had shown enthusiasm in the beginning of his train journey. It was said that this journey would increase the confidence of the public in the Railways. He was received by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal at Delhi’s Safdarjung station. He was presented with a picture of Mahatma Gandhi while traveling by train. The President laid flowers at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Bhavan, Lucknow. Governor Anandiben Patel felicitated the first citizen and first woman citizen of the country. Before this, on reaching Charbagh railway station, the President inscribed his message in the visitor’s book. He wrote that my best wishes to the Indian Railways for providing easy and smooth transport from the inaccessible mountain ranges of the Himalayas to the coast of Kanyakumari and from the green lands of Northeast India to the western deserts of Gujarat. After a long time, my family and I are very much impressed by the pleasant and picturesque train journey from Delhi to Kanpur via Lucknow. In this memorable journey, I had the pleasant experience of meeting my old friends and relatives in tears and hesitations. I firmly believe that Indian Railways will continue to remain at the forefront of rail services across the world as the beloved transport service of crores of Indians every day. My thanks and best wishes to the entire team active in the service of Indian Railways. The Railway Minister expressed happiness over the President’s message. Said that the message of President Ram Nath Kovind is encouraging to the entire railway family. I am glad that your train journey was a pleasant one. I assure that in the service of crores of Indians, we will continue in this way, and will always keep your trust. Ramnath Kovind also went to his native village Paraunkh in the first leg of the train journey. He himself told that he used to come to the school located near Jhinjhak for his elementary education. Graduated from BNSD, Kanpur with Inter and DAV. Then after taking the degree of advocate, he started practicing in the Delhi High Court.

He was a lawyer for the Central Government in the Delhi High Court during the Morarji Desai government. Joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1991. In the year 1994, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Uttar Pradesh. In the year 2000, again elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Uttar Pradesh. He was a member of Rajya Sabha for twelve consecutive years. Shortly after the Narendra Modi government was formed at the Center for the first time, he was made the Governor of Bihar. He has been the President of the country for the last four years.
