University of Lucknow has shown ironclad commitment to student welfare and upgradation through the century of its establishment. In recent years, the university has taken upon itself to not only groom the academic and co-curricular events, but also to train them practically in professional conduct and work ethics with financial incentives. The launch of Karmyogi scheme was aimed at encouraging students to earn while they learn so as to learn fiscal responsibility, as well as inculcate in them a work ethos. Students selected under this scheme are encouraged to take up part-time jobs on the campus with a work day of not more than 2 hours daily for maximum 50 days in an academic session after his classes at the rate of Rs 150 per hour, permitting a maximum of Rs 15,000 in a year, The work assignments can be in laboratories, library, office, computer centre, hotel/mess, assistance to teachers, day care centre etc.. The advertisement of this scheme was met with great enthusiasm, with a total 540 applications received. The applicants were subjected to rigourous interview to assess their merit, interests, expertise, skills and overall commitment. A total of 71 students have been selected to be pioneers of this innovative scheme. Their commitment and performance will pave the ways for future success of this scheme and encourage further applications in the future. The university looks forward to encouraging and supporting more students in finding their “professional feet” in the future.

Today 30 international students residing in HRDC guest house have been shifted to Narendra Dev hall. They had been accommodated in HRDC guest house due to Acharya Narendra Dev hall undergoing repair work and renovation to ensure the convenience of foreign students. Additional chief provost and prvost of Acharya Narendra Dev hall Dr Anup Kumar Singh informed that Vice-Chancellor Professor Alok Kumar Rai visited the premises of the hall today and inspected the entire building. He also had an interaction with the students. On the occasion, a sampling of Peepal was also planted in the hostel compound. Prof. Poonam Tandon, Dean Students’ Welfare, Prof. Nalini Pandey- Chief Provost, Prof. Monisha Banerjee- Additional Chief Provost, Prof Amita Kanaujia, Dr. Rakesh Dwivedi, Dr. OP Shukla, Dr. Mahendra Agnihotri, Dr Suchit Swaroop were also present in the program.
