Dr. Dilip Agnihotri
There is nothing surprising in the report released on the political violence in West Bengal. It was all obvious. Violent activities have been going on here since the elections. Those who supported the BJP were on target in this. The violent elements had the open support of the ruling Trinamool Congress. This was the reason that the police and administration kept arresting such incidents. This greatly boosted the morale of the violent elements. There was no hearing of the victims in the police stations. In fact, this violence was well planned. Its purpose was to spread fear among BJP supporters. Communists and Congress were wiped out in Bengal. The BJP had come in a direct contest with the Trinamool Congress. It is true that this time he did not get the opportunity to form the government, but he got the advantage of seventy three seats, he had to face defeat by a small margin in ninety seats. Not only this, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also had to face defeat from Nandigram. In such a situation, even after forming the government, the concern of Trinamool Congress had increased. Mamata Banerjee is also required to contest the assembly elections within six months.
Legislative Council does not exist in Bengal. Mamata Banerjee has no other option. If she could not win the election, she would have to leave the chief minister’s post. Mamata Banerjee must have been concerned with an example from Bihar. There the then Chief Minister Lalu Yadav had made such a person a minister, who was not a member of the legislature. He could not become a member even after six months of taking oath. So he had to resign from the post of minister. At that time Lalu Yadav used to be in his famous style. He made him a minister again a few days later. Said that now he can be a minister again for the next six months. This example has also increased the concern of Mamta Banerjee. In the assembly elections, Mamta Banerjee had described the leaders of the country as outsiders. It was his local card. But now from where she will contest, there will be a local person in her competition like Nandigram. It is possible that because of this also fear is being spread among the opponents. An agency report has claimed that there were about 15 thousand cases of violence after the elections in West Bengal. In which twenty-five people died. More than seven thousand women were harassed. The Central Government has assured to take appropriate action on the basis of this report. Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said that an organization named Call for Justice has submitted this report to the government. It claimed that incidents of violence that started on the night of May 2 after the election results have taken place in villages and towns across the state. Most of the incidents are not sporadic but pre-planned, organized and conspiratorial. The Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal strongly attacked the disclosure of the report of the Fact Finding Committee formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Post Violence. National President JP Nadda blamed the ruling party of West Bengal for this. Said that violence was carried out in the entire state under a well-planned strategy. Those opposing the Trinamool Congress were killed. There were incidents of rape of women. Many houses were destroyed. The victims were stopped from going to the police station. Fines were imposed on those who were working on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Fact Finding Committee in its report found that the Bengal Police remained a complete mute spectator throughout the violence. Those who were working for political parties other than Trinamool Congress, even their Aadhar cards and ration cards were snatched away. In particular, Dalit and forest dwellers women and vulnerable people were targeted. Justice Pramod Kohli, former Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court, former Chief Secretary of Kerala Anand Bose, former Additional Secretary of Karnataka Madan Gopal, former ICSI President Nisar Chand Ahmed and Jharkhand Fact Finding Committee on Post Violence constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs. of former DGP Nirmal Kaur. Speaking on the post-poll violence in Bengal, he said that TMC had started the politics of demolition even before winning the assembly elections. JP Nadda asked where have all the opposition parties of the country gone. Unfortunately, if any incident had happened in a BJP ruled state, a storm would have been created. When there is violence against Dalits, Backward, Adivasis and women in Bengal, the voice of these human rights activists does not come out. Such so called human rights activists also need to be exposed.
