The Inaugural Ceremony of the National Seminar titled “Entrepreneurship Development: Roadmap to Employment Generation & Growth” organized by The Department of Commerce, University of Lucknow, opened with lighting of lamp by dignitaries – Shri Brijesh Pathak, Prof. Furquan Qamar, Shri Kiron Chopra and Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, Prof Audhesh Kumar followed by offering flowers to Goddess Saraswati.
The program commenced with ‘Saraswati Vandana’ and Kulgeet performed by Prajakta Sharma, Shalvi Lohia, Rimmi Rai, Prachi Tripathi- students of M.com and Khushboo Verma-Research scholar. Dr. Ankita Pandey played the table.
All the dignitaries on the Dias were formally welcomed with bouquets, shawl and mementos as a token of appreciation

Prof Audhesh Kumar Head, department of commerce, formally welcomed all the dignitaries present on the Dias and participants from various parts of the country, colleges, research scholars and students. He named Prof. Furquan Qamar as his ‘Guru’. He mentioned about the significance of the national conference and its aims at bringing together a core group of researchers from all over India with a significant participation from our own state, Uttar Pradesh. Furthermore, he introduced the theme of the seminar. He also thanked Shri Brijesh Pathak, Cabinet Minister, U.P. for ensuring his presence in all the programmes at University of Lucknow.
Shri Brijesh Pathak, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, accompanied by other dignitaries on the Dias released the ‘Souvenir’ of the seminar.
Shri Brijesh Pathak, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Legislative, Justice & Rural Engineering Service. In his speech, he emphasized on various schemes like Atm nirbhar Bharat, Skill India, ODOP, etc. launched by Govt. of India, which will create employment opportunities. Further he said Uttar Pradesh played a key-role in regulating the schemes and directly connect the youth and women to the employment opportunities. He ended his speech with these words: “ कर्मचारी और अध्यापक संगठन ने मुझे राजनीतिज्ञ बनाया. गुरु का सम्मान बच्चो में होना चाहिए. मैं आज यहाँ खड़ा हूँ तो आप लोगों की वजह से खड़ा हूँ ”
Our keynote speaker Prof. Furquan Qamar, from Centre of Management Studies, Jamia Milia Islamia, Delhi. Ex-Vice chancellor of university of Himachal Pradesh & University of Rajasthan. He thanked the university of Lucknow for providing the opportunity given to him as a keynote speaker in the seminar. He said, this 2-day seminar on entrepreneurship will help the students in understanding about self-employment. He threw light on the fact that India and China are two dominating countries in the world with respect to share in world’s population and in coming years India will be taking over china, it means 18% of the world population will be from India. On the contrary number of ultra-rich people have been rising and distribution of wealth is a challenge for us. He suggested that we have to focus on research, development, inventions, copyrights and technology. It will help to upgrade our education system. He talked about collaboration between industries and universities to increase entrepreneurs in India. In a concluding statement he said “we have to work beyond jugaad, jugaad is not sufficient for our economy to become worldly recognized as educational and technological country.”
Special Guest of the seminar Shri Kiron Chopra, Chairman and Managing Director, Chopra Retec Rubber Products Ltd. He is an alumnus of University of Lucknow (1973 batch). He focus on the words “Re-think, Re-evaluate and Move on”. He presented some crucial data in front of us that GDP of India comprises – 60% revenue from Service sector, 20% revenue from Manufacturing industry and 20% from Agricultural sector. He further said that we need to work on manufacturing and agricultural sector in order to increase the contribution in India’s GDP. He also focused on Atma Nirbhar Bharat Scheme and said we should collaborate with China and California in Entrepreneurial Support. In his concluding remarks he said: “To be a successful, make good decisions. To make good decisions you should have experience and experiences come from bad decision. It is a part of life.”
Shri Alok Kumar Rai, Vice Chancellor of University of Lucknow emphasized that all the programs of University of Lucknow turned to ‘Alumni show’ which shows the “Legacy of the University.” He said that this seminar is a step towards creating a Eco-system for Start-ups as an educational institution. He quoted the words of Industrialist, Ratan Tata “India produces great managers but lack great leaders.” At the end of his speech, he proudly announced that University of Lucknow is the first university in India to implement New Education Policy 2020 (NEP) in Post-Graduate courses from this session.
The session came to an end by the Vote of Thanks speech by Dr. Geetika T. Kapoor (Organising Sectretary) on behalf of Department of Commerce, University of Lucknow. The two-days national seminar was organized by Department of Commerce, Centre of Excellence, University of Lucknow in collaboration with IEDUP on 18th February and 19th February 2021 at Malviya Hall. She thanked Chief Guest and Special Guest for sharing their views on entrepreneurship development in India. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards Prof. Audhesh Kumar, Prof Arvind kumar , Prof Somesh K Shukla, Prof. Ram Milan, Dr. Sunita Srivastava and her colleagues for their valuable support and suggestions in the successful implementation of this seminar. She further thanked the Faculty members, Managers, Principals, College Delegates, Research scholars, Student volunteers, and staff of the Department of Commerce. She thanked media persons for covering the event.

In the evening, a cultural programme was organized in which a Kathak Performance (Madhmay Umang) was staged under the direction and choreography of famous dancer Dr. Kumkum Dhar (Yash Bharti Samman & U.P. Sangeet Natak Academy awardee) at 6 PM at Malviya hall. This was followed by a Song & Dance performance by the students of the department of commerce.
