University of Lucknow organised a webinar under the Mission Shakti Initiative of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The webinar was organised specially for administrators of the University, with the focus on the role of administrators in any institution in achieving the goals of Mission Shakti. IPS Renuka Mishra delivered the keynote address and DG health and family welfare, UP Government, Dr. Mithilesh Chaturvedi was the Guest of Honour. ICC Chairperson and Coordinator of the Mission Shakti program at University of Lucknow, Prof. Sheela Mishra was the Convenor of the webinar. Prof. Mishra briefed everyone about the goals of the Mission Shakti initiative and invited the speakers of the day to deliver their address.
IPS Renuka Mishra gave a riveting lecture on the role of administrators in achieving the objectives of women empowerment, specially in the workplace. She charted out a five point action plan beginning with acceptance, identification, addressing, redressal and then, prevention of problems like gender discrimination, sexual harassment, etc. to ensure a workplace is not just safe, but a sensitised place for a woman. Smt. Mishra shared several incidents from her own life and her own department’s work towards ensuring a safe workplace and encouraged everyone listening to introspect and arrive at solutions. She was followed by the DG health and family welfare, UP Government, Dr. Mithilesh Chaturvedi. Dr. Chaturvedi echoed IPS Mishra’s beliefs about talking about self-sufficiency and self-respect, instead of only empowerment when it comes to women. She said that awareness of the issues must happen across genders and must not be restricted to women only.
