PM Narendr Modi inaugurated the centennial postal ticket based on University of Lucknow, special cover of the University and special centennial coin of hundred rupees. In his presidential address honourable PM congratulated University for the completion of hundred years and said that it is not a number rather it inculcates numerous achievements. He mentioned about the pepaal tree at the Gate number 1 which had witnessed the growth of this University since its inception. This University had given many stalwarts in various fields such as politics, judiciary, sports, cinema etc.He then mentioned about the Arts quadrangle where Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose had given a naara “Prepare your own samvidhaan”. He then said that when he meet any personality belonging to University of Lucknow he feels glitters in his eyes. Then he said “hum fidaye lucknow hain”. He also talked about the student life in University and mentioned about the canteen chai-samosa, bun-makkhan etc.. He then said that mizaz of University of Lucknow is still Lucknowi. He then told the role of youth and teachers of University of Lucknow in fighting the pandemic situation of corona. Then he urged to The P.M. emphasised the paradigm of ‘Positivity in thought and possibility in approach’. Also he exhorted the need of self exploration. He advised the students to enjoy the student life, and encourage oneself. The New Education Policy focuses on building self esteem, and mobility, said the P.M. He also said that the University is not only the center for higher education but also the powerhouse of character building. He asked the University to make a Plan of Action for the centennial celebration of Nation’s Independence. Chief Minister Yogi Aaditynath and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had inaugurated the documentary film about University of Lucknow which was prepared by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications. Then they inaugurated Coffee Table Book and then another book written by Prof. Nishi Pandey “University of Lucknow: An Odyssey of Hundred Year” and finally they inaugurated the tu Shatabdi Calendar of the University.
Thereafter, IT team of the University had online demonstrated various Shodh Peeth and Centre of Excellence established in the University. Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh ji congratulated University for achieving this landmark and said this is a major achievement which only few Universities in India had achieved. Thereafter, he mentioned about the establishment of Canning College in 19th century which later-on transformed into the University of Lucknow. He mentioned that University in this entire period not only survive but thrive also. He said that many illustrious personalities such as Birbal Sahni, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma had studied in this University. He mentioned about the statue of Nirala at IT Chauraha and Hanuman Setu mandir which is an inspiration of Neem Karauri baba. He also urged everyone and especially youth to visit Mankaameshwar mandir when they feel depress. He said that he is coming to University since he was education minister in Uttar Pradesh state. Then he mentioned about the role of youth as corona warrior in fighting COVID-19. Then he talked about “atmnirbhar” Bharat and said that this new Bharat will be “gyanwaan” “dhanwaan” and “charitrawaan”. He mentioned the story of Swami Vivekanand the first youth icon in which one foreigner commented on his dres. In reply Swami Ji said that “In you country tailor makes the man and in our country character makes the man”. He urged youth to shoulder responsibility to strengthen India by taking inspiration from rich culture and legacy of our country.He also mentioned that India is moving towards three trillion dollar economy.
