Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, Vice Chancellor University of Lucknow has been nominated as the Member of General Council of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in the category of Vice-Chancellor of a State University. From the entire country only four persons can be nominated as the Member of the prestigious General Council of NAAC and Prof. Rai is one of them. Prof. Rai has been nominated by Prof. D. P. Singh, Chairman, University Grant Commission and President of the General Council of NAAC. The nomination of Professor Rai is for the period of three years. It is worthy to mention here that the University Grant Commission had established inter-University Centers amongst which National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bengaluru is one of the autonomous organization which was established in 1994. The primary responsibility of the NAAC is to carry out assessment and accreditation of institutions of higher education.
